Question about Familia Hotel, Paris and hotel heating

On my last two trips to Paris, the heating was controlled by the front desk although there were controls in the room. Now I can understand the need to conserve, it's just that I need heat more often and at times that didn't seemed to be "allowed". Has anyone else experienced this and how did you handle it? Has anyone stayed at the Familia recently and can you give me some feedback, especially pertaining to the heating situation. Thank you for any responses.

Being that I live in New England and sleep with the windows open in the winter, I guess I won't be of much help to you because I like the room cold. My only suggestion would be to ask the desk for a couple of extra duvets and bring along sweats and thermal underwear. I've never seen any questions here about not enough heat, however, I have seen plenty of inquiries about air conditioning.

I have never stayed at the Familia but have been to Paris many times in the cold weather..but then again, the hotels we have stayed in, have radiators that we controlled in the room..Last fall the temps were not so low at night but the heat was pouring out...happily we were able to shut them off.If the Familia has email, you could ask them about it, if not, maybe you would like to look into another hotel? Good luck! M.

I stayed at the Familia but it was in the summer, however the desk was very kind and spoke fluent English so I would assume that they could help you out if your room was cold.

I stayed at the Familia Hotel last February with my husband and young son. We had a wonderful experience and were warm and snug the whole time. Eric and his parents are a delight and were very helpful. The Familia is a great bargain.

Thank you, I'll book the Familia now if I can only get a good rate on a flight from the west coast. I may have to wait a month or so for the rates to come down around $500 or so. Am I dreaming on this one?
