Thanks Stu!
A long drive but if you recommend it , must be worth it!
I had thought to drive southwest , near Aix, as google maps suggested, but will do yours since you know the scenic routes
Thought only could drive via G. Du Verdon and we do know Gr Canyon.
Thanks for info about winding roads as I can get car sick
We will see how we feel once approach them and see if we want to add drive time.
Do you suggest Vence visit with only 2 full days in Nice/3 nights?

Nice is NOT like Cassis, that was once a quite fishing village but after BB made St Tropez popular, the overflow sought out Cassis. I like it there,

Nope - you will see enough "cute little villages" while in Provence. Visit Nice, perhaps Antibes, and Villefranche to get your water "fix".

Also, I think you would enjoy St Paul more than Vence.

Thanks Stu!
I SO appreciate all your thoughtful advice and the time you take to do so...!

Thanks to you and others' posts, we now feel that Sault is too far east perhaps for our stay
Stu ( and anyone else ), would you suggest a gite we also know of below Crestet?
Easier to use as base?
Same other concepts: visit Dentelles, Gordes( et. al.) , Avignon,Vaison
Then on to Nice and Antibes, Villefranche, maybe Monaco

Stu: same route as before to Nice if we base near Crestet?

Lovely area - even a good pottery store there. Go for it !!!

That probably adds 45 mins to your trip - which is perhaps too much. I would probably head south on the A7 & visit Aix on the way, and then stop at St Paul just before Nice.

Thank you Stu for all your great suggestions. My daughter and I have mapped out a plan but are still in the "rough" stages. We are renting a car upon arrival in Nice at the airport.
We fly into Nice and will stay two nights in Eze at Domaine Pins Paul. We will explore the area but not Monaco or any place touristy along the coast. From there on day three , we head to Aix en Provence for the afternoon possibly as a break in our drive to st. remy.We are staying in St. Remy at MasDeCarassins for three nights. We hope to explore les Baux, Arles and rent a Sun-e-Bike-motorized bicycle for the day as well. We hope to see a small part of Avignon and spend the better part of a day cooking with a chef at Le Bastide Rose in Le Thor. After our class which ends at 3:30 our drive to la Bonne Etape in Chateau Arnoux -our hotel for.3 nights
From this base we hope to see Gordes and Bonneiux and Moustier Ste Marie and the gorges du Verdon. Our last day and night are unplanned. We depart from Marseille
And have two options- revisit Aix or Cassis and stay our last night in either location close to Marseille airport. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. A mother daughter trip like this does not happen often. I want the memories we create to last a lifetime! Thanks. Joyce
