Hi KarenWoo, I came along your TR while browsing for Provence trip reports. I was really inspired while reading it. Now I made up my mind to visit June 2024. Where is a good area to base if we want to see these charming small villages? We have 10 days to explore coming from the US. We love scenery, wine, history and good food. Also how many days to spend in each? We don't have a car, do you recommend on a rental? Can you recommend an itinerary please. Thanks.

I am currently not at my home so I am going by memory and I don’t have any maps handy right now. I would definitely base in St. Remy for 5 nights. This will be convenient for visiting the Luberon villages.

another possible base could be Avignon which is not charming but would be convenient to the pont du gard, Arles, etc.

Or Aix en Provence which is lovely and from here you could visit Marseille, Cassis etc.

A map will be very helpful in planning.

I recommend renting a car. I would not want to rely on public transportation.

Are you interested in visiting the French Riviera? If so, you could spend 5 nights in Nice which would make a lovely trip along with 5
nights in St Remy.
