Dukey what part of the information did you not understand? I pointed out UK and the RoI do not require ID to be carried. Last time I looked London was in the UK, or maybe you are in the Canadian city?
Safes are not safe and not every hotel has one. Keys are quite simple and generic, even keypads can be by passed.

I stay in B&Bs and small guesthouses rather than hotels, so there is often no safe. I occasionally lock my passports, ATM/credit cards and money in my case but more often carry them with me in a money belt. I think that neck pouches are less safe and for me would be less comfortable. I find that if I wear the money belt with the pouch at the back I forget I have it on. I have been using this model for years: https://lewisnclark.com/waist-stash/
And before someone asks if I do that at home, of course not, but at home I travel by car and I have fewer valuable and hard to replace items with me. I currently live in the US and use a money belt when visiting places like New York and D.C. by public transport. I will be in London (where I once lived) later this year, and since my accommodation is unlikely to have a safe I will wear a money belt there.
