There's probably a PDF plugin in Firefox that was out of date or messed up or something. But I'm glad you got it to print!

She mentioned me because she's jealous of me.

Just to refresh your memory Snobby, I did say on that other thread that you've confused with this one, that if you're staying in the part of Venice where most tourists stay, you'll want to use Venice Santa Lucia.

I said that Mestre was part of Venice, because it IS part of Venice. The question on that other thread would be like asking, "Should I stay in Trastevere or should I stay in Rome?"

LOL. I just love the self-absorbed and the deluded who inhabit this board. If there's one color I hate, it's envy green.

LOL, again. Apples and oranges. As if Trastevere could ever be confused with a series of islands, visited by more than 3 million tourists a year, separated from the country's mainland by Laguna Veneta, and only accessible by boat once you embark Santa Lucia train station or Piazzale Roma. But whatever. I enjoy the laughs.

twoteachers,
I suspect your problem was a plug-in issue. One way to get around is when given option to open/save, save first, then open the local saved file with full standalone pdf reader. I have had similar problems. I use ieplorer, firefox, and chrome brawsers as they don't always behave the same say with plug-ins.

You may hate the idea, but Mestre is part of Venice. A lot of people there want to secede from Italy, but I never heard of any who wanted to secede from Venice.

How can anyone confuse the Bronx, which is on the mainland, with the magical kingdom of New York, which is wonderful islands in New York Harbor. And yet, like it or not, the Bronx is part of New York.

Hate the idea? What on earth are you talking about?

<i><font color=#555555>"And yet, like it or not, the Bronx is part of New York."</font></i>

Good luck selling that myth to a real estate agent.

People who try to control other people on the internet = sad.

Men who scream and use excessive characters to increase the volume of their hysteria = a contestant eligible for RuPaul's Drag Race.

Mestre may technically or officially be a part of an adminstrative Venezia but it is in no way part of the tourists' Venezia - thus the discussion is academic as well as pedantic. Enough already - Venice we know was tourists is miles apart from that workaday and rather ugly for Italy main workaday part of Venice at Mestre.

Heck at times you cannot even see across the lagoon from Venice proper to Mestre because of the thick smog hanging over it.

>>>This is actually to me the reverse - you are dealing with an American company that you can easily contact - trenitalia.com may be much harder to work thru in that situation<<<

This would be like telling an Italian to buy Amtrak tickets from a company in Italy instead of Amtrak. When you purchase from Trenitalia, if you can't print the ticket at home (which isn't actually necessary on Trenitalia as you just need the PNR code which most Italians have sent to their phones), you can retrieve your ticket at self-service kiosks in Italy. Just select collect ticket instead of buy ticket, enter the code and the name. Scroll down on this link until you see the email/code explained and scroll further for picture of the ticket kiosk screen.

>>>You might try a different web browser; if using Internet Explorer, try Chrome or Firefox.<<<

Excellent Andrew! Trenitalia used to list the browsers (and which particular versions of those browsers) you needed to use for purchase. Haven't seen it lately, but assume other ticket websites list that also. Good thing to check before starting a purchase process on websites.

>>>However, I have success, thanks, Andrew, for the reminder. I usually use Firefox, so I opened my letter from RE in Internet Explorer and, lo and behold, the PDF opened. I have no idea what the problem was in Firefox. "Ours not to reason why. <<<

Great! Glad it worked out. I'm sure others searching this problem in the future will find your solution/thread.
