Private Tour Guide Mosel Wine Tasting

I am looking for recommendations for a tour guide for one day to drive my husband and I through part of the wine route in Mosel area. We will be spending about a week Germany and want to spend 1 day visiting a few wineries in Mosel area. A private guide would know the area and also allow us both to enjoy the wine without worrying about driving. Thanks for any suggestons. Not sure yet where we will be staying in the area.

Practically all towns and villages along the Mosel have several wineries. So I'd stay in one of these places and visit the different wineries within walking distance.
Are you planning to buy wine? All the wineries offer wine tastings for clients - well, they want to sell their wines. It's usually free but they'll expect (or hope for) you to buy something. In some places you can just show up but it's better to make an appointment, especially if you are experts who want to discuss wth the winemaker.
Other wineries will offer packages, wine tasting or dinner with different wines, that cost money. The local tourist office or your hotel can help you to find them.
Keep in mind that the places that offer tourist packages often aren't the ones that offer best quality.

Thanks to quokka for your reply. Yes, I would like to bring some wine home as well as consuming some there. I did not realize that there were areas with wineries within walking distance? Any particular area that would be a good place to stay and that have a number of good wineries within walking distance?

Do not forget the Luxembourg side. Some great wines that are almost completely unavailable outside of Luxembourg. One little known fact is that Luxembourg is the leading per capita wine consuming nation.
