I am on a budget and would like to know what would be the most important site in Rome to pay for an organized tour. Would it be: Ancient Rome (Roman Forum), the Vatican or somewhere else?

Probably the Scavi tour of the tombs under the Vatican, from the earliest pagan ones to St. Peter's and later. You can't see it without a tour, and it isn't expensive.<BR><BR>Doug

I agree with Doug! <BR> The Scavi tour is outstanding. I would suggest seeing the rest on your own. Rome is a very easy city to walk in and taxi's are fairly cheap. <BR> One place that you might miss it St. Pauls. My wife really like it.

marissa<BR>Look into Enjoy Rome or Scala Reale for their tours of the Forum/Colosseum.<BR>Scala Reale's tours are more expensive, but they are 4 hours long plus a free<BR>separate Orientation tour of Rome.<BR>They employ English-speaking art and history students who know how to provide information in an interesting, even entertaining way.<BR><BR>My Scala Reale tour of the Colosseum and Forum was one of the best things I did in Rome and when I go back I will do the same thing again. I only wish I'd used them for the Vatican as well.<BR><BR>
