Yesterday's NY Post said it best, calling Camilla "Frump Tower"

Yes, it is always a great idea to "demonize" people first before you really tear them down, isn't it? That way people feel more "justified" in doing so.

They're here

They're happy

And they've got more money than you do

Naturally that makes some people insecure.

Have read just a tiny bit about this in the Swiss newspapers. However, everyone is talking about Madonna's new CD.

Maybe C&C should hire Madonna's marketing manager?

Why would they call Camilla Frump Tower? I have seen photos of her while in NY and I think she looked lovely. I loved her raspberry suit. She is not a 25 year old Sloanie and shouldn't be compared to Diana who was only 25 when she came to this country and danced with John Travolta. That's an age difference of 35 years.

I am so sick of the press these days. Why do they and it seems we, as a culture, thing it's OK to just be so mean and cruel to someone. I know that if you are a public figure that you have put yourself out there, willingly or not, so to speak, but over the last 15 years or so, with the papparrazi etc, I think the whole tone as changed. It's just open season on everyone and people just accept it and laugh at it. And, also, as others have said: for heavens sake, Camilla is a middle aged woman. I think she looks pretty good actually, and what's wrong with being "average" looking? Most of us are average looking. Diana was in her 20's when she was here in the US, and died in her mid 30's, so she will always be young and beautiful. Camilla was no slouch in her younger days if you have ever seen pictures of her in her late teens and early 20's. Camilla looks fine to me.

Crefloors - very well put. I saw an earlier photo of Camilla yesterday on TV and she was beautiful. I also admire her because she hasn't had any plastic surgery and we know she can afford it.

When Diana was in her twenties she had that peaches and cream complexion, but because she was out in the sun a lot and just getting older she lost some of that youthful glow she had earlier on. So I just wish people would leave Camilla alone. She has never cried poor me, nor do I think she ever would.

I didn't think anyone anywhere gave a Rat's A. about the egregiously dysfunctional royal family. I stand corrected.

I don't know why anyone would make comparisons between George W. Bush and the British Royals.

The Windsors are a family of limited intellectual accomplishment but considerable wealth, the best-known representatives of a ruling caste which built its fortunes on commercial/military empire-building. Their scion owes his position to a wise choice of parents rather than any marked personal achievements. If he ascends to the throne he'll be a political figurehead, secure in the knowledge that people brighter than him will be making the real decisions.

No comparison at all.

Yup, muskoka, you've got that right. ;-)

I was visting friends in England last Easter, and during a lull in a dinner party conversation, I asked what the assembled group (all Brits) thought about the impending wedding of C&C. My gosh, I was amazed by the impassioned opinions both for and against, and less surprised by some who said -- just don't care!

It seems that the British Monarchy is entering a period of relative stability. Prince Charles looks happy with Duchess Camilla. His boys are maturing well. William is handsome and is intelligent. Harry looks bound for a military career. Maybe he'll become a general some day.

Queen Elizabeth turns 80 next year. The next change for the royal family will be a prospective regency for Prince Charles when the Queen becomes too infirmed to complete her duties- she will never abdicate. I expect that Charles will become his mother's regent sometime before 2015 when he is in his late sixties. Charles might not make king until age 80.

If I'm not mistaken the President has advisors as well and I'm sure a lot of them have more intellect than he does.

Sorry folks, but not everyone here in England accepts Camilla.I find it both insulting and hypocritical that we are expected to accept what goes on here without question. These ar apparently huge figureheads to us British and if that was all I had to look up to then it wouldn't be much of a role model.Let him do what he wants, but don't ask me to agree or accept it

What amused me is that the poor woman was sneered at by the American press for wearing high heeled shoes.
Somebody should have told her that the correct footwear for meeting Bush is white tennis shoes.

I wonder who is paying for all this fanfares? The Royal house or the British Citizens?
Surely this trip must be quite expensive, considering that her Entourage consist of 40 Ladies in Waiting, servants, butlers and other, also she brought 50 evenings dresses and 40 hats.
Today she was criticized by the press because of what she wore while visiting Ground Zero in NY..Her suit was way too bright for this somber occasion..
