Pre book for InisMor?

We will be visiting Ireland at the end of August and we want to do a day trip to InisMor. We plan to take the ferry from Rossaveal. Is it advisable to obtain tickets in advance for that time? How about pre booking the coach tours on the island, is that advised? I see on the website for the ferry that it is possible to pre book, but we would rather not, if its not necessary. We would like to have some flexibility with the weather.

The third try, I hate this format. I would prebook but there are normally plenty of people waiting to take you around.

I wouldn't want to visit any of the Aran islands on a bus tour. I didn't even think there were buses there. You can hire pony carts on the island, or you can rent a bicycle. We took a pony cart to Dun Aengus, which is about the farthest point of the island, and then walked back to the port. You really could walk over the whole island.

We didn't prebook anything when we went to Inis Mor, but that was about ten years ago, and it was in June. I don't know if there are more visitors in August, or if the number of visitors has increased since then.

Yes, prebook the ferry. There are van drivers there that can take you all around the island. You see more than if you bike or take a pony cart. We used Michael Faherty twice and he was great. Eat at the cafe below the climb to the fort and cliffs. It has actually won awards. Michael works with film crews and there are so many spots used there for films. We also went to see the seals.http://www.fahertytours.com/cliffs-of-moher.php

Thank you, bvlenci and macross! It might be good to prebook the ferry then, since I've heard that August is quite busy. We would rather walk or take the pony cart, but I was trying to factor in the weather. Which, of course, no one can predicate!! Perhaps we will just book the ferry and, depending on the weather at the time, decide on walking, pony cart, or van!! I will keep Michael's name in my notes, in case that seems to be the best way!
