uuhhhh
no, you don't see. You said that not wearing shorts at the Vatican is a matter of respect. It may be for some, there's no telling, because it is a requirement that we don't. I don't wear shorts inside anyone's house of worship as being respectful, but I've seen any number of questionable outfits being worn in churches in the USA, by their congregants.

Faina,
Have a safe journey and a wonderful time. Stay out of trouble, but please don't be too good. After all, I am looking forward to some silly stories when you return, and I know I'm not the only one.

okay... a little bit of self-deprecating almost always lightens things up... I don't wear shorts (99% of the time) - - out of respect for my wife!

Well... short pants, that is...

Took a while to find this one. I was searching for "prayer for travellers" and "traveller's prayer". Oh, well...

Thanks Fiana,
May you be a blessing to all you meet on your journey. May the The Diety of Your Choice guide the hands and minds of the mechanics working on your plane, the pilots, the flight attendents and the luggage handlers.
Safe journey

My friend on takeoff:

Well, we are in God's Hands now.

Me:

Let's hope he doesn't start clapping.

Faina, picking up on what Leely said: Be good. But if you can't be good, then be good at it.

Happy travels!!

I'm not a member of any religious faith, but found that I cannot help but cross myself upon take off. I guess that comes from visiting so many Catholic churches while traveling.

I'm leaving Thursday night and it's good to know I'm not the only one out there getting anxious. I've told everyone I know to do a silent (or a loud) shout out to God that I don't freak out on the airplane due to turbulance or whatever when it takes off. Faina, have a good flight. I especially hope the "evil animals along the way" don't get you either

I have a version of that same prayer, bought at a kiosk in the mall, in my car.

Safe and happy travels, Faina.

Ohhh sorry it looks like I've misinformed most of you guys... I was just looking for this for my friend who's taking a cruise soon.

And of course, I'll be travelling too, and brace up for my future reports, they will be looooooong

Ohhh, PM, I'm good at not being good!

Polly, in this case you gotta believe in the pilots: you trust they won't go on strike, you trust they will be sober... Isn't it just easier to beleive in the Higher Authority?

A beautiful prayer Faina. Thank you. It reminds me of the weather prayer in the movie "Patton." It worked for the General.

Flying is my most relaxed time. I love it. If my plane goes down I know it will be over in a second. But it will not go down.
