no, you don't see. You said that not wearing shorts at the Vatican is a matter of respect. It may be for some, there's no telling, because it is a requirement that we don't. I don't wear shorts inside anyone's house of worship as being respectful, but I've seen any number of questionable outfits being worn in churches in the USA, by their congregants.

I'm not a member of any religious faith, but found that I cannot help but cross myself upon take off. I guess that comes from visiting so many Catholic churches while traveling.

I'm leaving Thursday night and it's good to know I'm not the only one out there getting anxious. I've told everyone I know to do a silent (or a loud) shout out to God that I don't freak out on the airplane due to turbulance or whatever when it takes off. Faina, have a good flight.
