Prague-Vienna-Salzburg
I am honeymooning over the Christmas holidays and am flying from London to Prague. We will travel by train from Prague to Vienna. And then Vienna to Salzburg. And finally back to Prague by way of Munich. I have located reasonable hotels at all of our stops but am looking for an especially nice, romantic hotel in Vienna for Christmas. Does anyone have a suggestion or favorite hotel in Vienna? Thanks.

Just returned from Prague; if you book hotels through CEDOK you can get wonderful rates on better hotels. We moved from a 3* to a 5* for a $15 difference per night. You would believe the difference in the hotels!!! We saw the one we almost booked. Prague is a beautiful but complicted city. Keep your belongings close to you; we were robbed in the post office! Boy voyage!

Reb; How do I get in touch with CEDOK from the US? I couldn't find it on the internet. Are you familiar with the Hotel Hoffmeister? It is a Relais and Chateau hotel and sounds fantastic - but slightly over our budget. Is it worth it? Can I get it cheaper through CEDOK? It's near Male Srana - slightly north. Are there other hotels in Male Strana which really are comparable? What I have read is that comfort by American standards is a little hard to find in Prague. I appreciate any advice you can offer. You might want to use a different search engine (the
person who couldn't find it on the internet),
as I found it in 10 seconds with Altavista just
typing in the word "cedok" for a search. The
site is: www.cedok.cz
It's in Czech so I can't read it, but I could make
out two e-mail addresses they have:
[email protected]

Since e-mail is free, it can't hurt to shoot off a question and see what happens.

The Hotel Hoffmeister is right at the bottom of the hill the Prague Castle sits on. Very convenient location. Prague may look big on maps, but it's all very very close. From the Hoffmeister you're an easy ten minute stroll from the Charles Bridge and scores of good restaurants. I've also heard lots of people recommend the hotel Sax. It's smaller, quieter street, charming, and also within an easy walk of the castle, the Charles Bridge, etc... I think it might be cheaper, too. The number is 420 2 / 538 422. People also recommend the Pension Dientzenhofer, at 420 2 / 53 16 72. Both come highly recommended. Have fun on the trip - all three cities, plus what's inbetween, are beautiful, and a nice combination for one trip.
