Stu, if you have time from Prague to Cesky Krumlov there are a couple of good castles - one is Zvikov (fairytale-like and untouristy). One of my favourites in the country.
Chateau Hluboka nad Vltavou is close to CK. Not one of my favourites but it is a nice drive. Rozmberk is about 20 minutes south. Just a couple of ideas for daytrips...

My follow-up is a happy ending. I was stunned to receive a call from a Delta representative last night. Not only was she apologetic, she had fully read my letter, was prepared to answer my concerns and assured me the ongoing issue with seat swapping would be passed upwards (what more can you hope for these days). Again, many apologies and understanding, but the icing was reinstatement of miles associated with both our return trips. I checked my account today and the miles are posted. A happy ending for me and now I am planning our next trip to Paris ... with miles of course!
All said, she and Delta did an excellent job making me feel like the customer is valued.
