Mentioned already, but:
1. "Summertime" - pure romance in beautiful Venice
2. To Catch a Thief - pure glamour on the French Riviera
3. If you can get past the corny story lines and awful acting, "Rome Adventure" and "Three Coins in the Fountain".

I read through the entire thread and finally saw the film I'd add to the list. Rome Adventure... with Troy Donajue and Suzanne Pleschette. I liked hearing "Al di la"
I also like Romancing the Stone, as it reminded me of a trip into the rain forest in far north Queensland OZ.
Out of Africa is also lovely, IMO.

I saw Three Coins In The Fountain when it first came out and I loved that movie! It was considered quite sophisticated at the time. My girls friends and I all made promises that we would all get to Rome. Some have and some have not unfortuantly.

re, three coins in the fountain,
This was the first cinamascope movie filmed outside of the USA. The director had to bring his full crew thewre to make that happen.
Filmed at the Trevi Fountain,
Lazio, Rome,
Venice

The Best of Youth --- DH and I watched it over the weekend-is a verrryy long movie as follows 2 Italian brothers over about a 40 year period. Wonderful shots of Rome, Florence, Tuscany--also Norway. This subtitled story of Matteo and Nicola is definitely worth spending your viewing hours on. Actually, was on from 10:40am to 4:50pm!! Was released in 2002.
