Hotel Botanico? Ummmm would we be able to take afternoon tea there and still make a 7:45 curtain in London?

I've booked afternoon tea at Claridges in The Reading Room...3:30 on October 20.
M_K2, do pop round from your flat and say hello. Or if you choose to remain silent, just tip your flute of Louis Roederer Cristal in our general direction. :-B

A Wednesday, and the diary is free. Maybe I will pop in for a little Cristal.

...or perhaps you prefer a champagne cocktail, in a champagne saucer of course, NEVER a flute.

A saucer of course, flutes are so technical and not user friendly, and never look elegant.

I drink champagne cocktails from a saucer, but I want my dry champagne poured into a flute so the bubbles don't go flat .

Shame I didn't see your post a little earler - I just enjoyed a wonderful GTG with fodorite Carolyn and her daughter Lisa. Both very charming and interesting ladies, so a very enjoyable lunch date indeed.
Looking forward to the next one!

Hi Kavey,
I am looking forward to seeing you again this year on Oct 27.

Carolyn and Lisa were part of last March's GTG in Louisville, KY. They are indeed nice ladies and we had hoped our 2004 London trips would coincide, but unfortunately that didn't happen.

Any other Fodorites available in London from October 19- Nov 1?

I've already book Claridges for a small afternoon tea GTG on October 20, but if anyone else would like to join us, please drop by and say hello.
You too, M_K2.

Judy

I'm off to Paris, Montpellier, and London tomorrow afternoon. I'm anticipating the little GTG at Claridges on Oct 20.

There will be a place set at the table for you, M_K2; do join us. Jacta alea est. ;-)

Hopefully I will have time to grace you all with a visit, and maybe a bottle of Cristal or two.

starspinners and others--we already have reservations for claridges for tea at 5:30 on October 20! Since our flight does not get in until 1:10 p.m. at Heathrow, we thought that was the most reasonable time (need time to nap, shower and change). Hopefully--we will catch up with you? We are in London only two nights.

M_K 2,
How do you plan to pick us out of the crowd?
Or better still, how shall we recognize you?

I'd like to think that you'd recognise me, but you do have a valid point. Should one wear a carnation for easy recognition? If I can make it, I'm sure we'll rush over to each other like long lost acquaintances.

MK_2,

Unless you regularly wear a carnation boutonnière, don't go to the trouble on my account.

I suppose our little group could just listen for the sound of the applause as you enter the room.
Or you could listen for the sound of American voices.
Or ,in just a few minutes, you could send me a short note ( c/o [email protected] ) to which I would respond with a short note that would tell you in whose name the tea has been booked.
Judy

Lacontessa,
Please do say hello if you see us at Claridges, we have booked a table in the Reading Room.
Our table should be easy to recognize as, apparently, it shall be graced with a stellar presence AND a magnum of Cristal. ;-)

Kavey. Am trying to get back there after the first of the year.
Would love to contact you if I make it. I will be in town for a week hopefully.
I have gotten together with the D.C group several times (Monica and company) and even hosted a couple. I always enjoy meeting other people that love travel.
If the plans come through, maybe I can email you and we can have lunch or something.
Sherry

Gosh, I feel quite honored. We did so enjoy meeting Kavey; she is very gracious. I told her I'm envious of all of you being able to meet, but we did have a wonderful week in London. I'll be posting a trip report shortly now that I've caught up on my sleep and got the laundry done.
