Porto or Algarve - 30 Oct - 4 Nov

Hi,

We are 2 friends planning to visit Portugal for 5 days. We are thinking on the below 2 options.
1. Porto, Douro Valley, Aveiro and Costa Nova
2. Algarve region - fly to lisbon pick a car and drive to Algarve

Any suggestions to choose one over the other during that time of the year - 30 Oct to 4 Nov.

Thank you.

Regards,
Kavya

May be a little late for swimming Algarve and without that option I'd eschew that rather modern beach resort area (with some neat old towns like Lagos and Tavira) - I'd chose Porto area.

I was in the Algarve in March. I did a trip report you might find useful. In general I found it "OK" - glad I went but not one of my favorite places. Haven't been to Porto but lots of people seem to love it. But wonder about the weather in November.

6 days on the Algarve and 3 in Lisbon, March 2018

thank you. we definitely cannot get in to water, but thought if we can visit the towns/villages around in Algarve and get some good photographs of the sunsets. Ofcourse the sky has to be clear for it It is a chance I guess.

May be inclided towards Porto as we can do day trips and even on bad weather it wont be as ruined as in a beach town.
