For this layman's eyes it was difficult to discern all the text and links to nail down a concrete itinerary. So if you will, could you please assist me on filling in the following blanks:
*Arrive Naples at 10:10 find the kiosk to purchase the Artecard for 27€ each. Will this card cover the cost of the bus from Naples to Vesuvius; bus from Vesuvius to Pompeii and the train from Pompeii back to Naples?
*It's the EAV bus correct? What will the bus state as it destination?
*Arrive at Vesuvius at 11:45 and take the bus to Pompeii at 13:10. Is this enough time to scale to the crater given the drop-off point? If not, when does the next bus depart from Vesuvius and arrive at Pompeii?
*What is the name of the bus from Vesuvius to Pompeii?

That version of the Artecard should cover both of those Vesuvius buses, as well as any travel you care to do on the Circumvesuviana railway, plus ONE visit to Pompei and one other site - but NOT the entry to the Park, which I gather recently rose to 8 Euro and now has to be paid at the on-site ticket office.

The service from the station in Naples is operated by EAVBus - and theirs usually say where they're going. They took over from three previous companies, and have a fleet of about 600 vehicles - the ones they themselves have added are red, the older ones have a blue and grey livery, and the very oldest are orange, and whilst some have electronic destination boards, others use signs... as you'll perhaps see from the range of small ones they had in use on Procida some time back..

With AGAIN the proviso that spring/summer timetables may start very soon now...
The bus takes you up to 1000 metres - and you climb the rest of the way to (almost) the 1280m summit. Most people are done within two hours. For the WINTER timetable for the buses down, see...

In 2010, until the end of September, a couple of each day's circuits were done by the opentop buses of the CitySightseeing company... and that may, or may not, happen again this year?
An announcement that changes were coming was made at one of the recent Travel Fairs - involving, I think, the use of those opentop buses on the route from Naples - however no precise details were given of quite what or when...
If not travelling within the next week or two, I'd suggest you check again a few days prior to your trip.... Easter is one obvious time when they might begin?

Yes indeed, one card per person. But although it gives 2 site entrances, you can't use it to enter Pompei twice... so no leaving for lunch and going back in!
And yes, those times and then a last one at 16:40.

Are you sure? I was under the impression you could re-enter Pompeii or Herculaneum over the three days of the card (just like the Roma Pass lets you re-enter the Colosseum as many times as you want IF it was one of your free visits).

I rather suspected not - but in fact the situation remains as it has been, and all the ordinary versions of the Artecard allow just a single visit to any site. We first used one in 2003, and I don't think it's ever been otherwise.
The only type to offer more is their 365 day card, and even that permits only two entrances at each attraction...

The RomaPass website says nothing about how many times you can visit the Colosseum, and you'll find that their helpdesk (available on +39 06 06 08 ) doesn't know the answer for that card either...

Whilst in Italy a few years ago we visited Pompeii and thought that it was marvellous but then we took a train from there to Herculaneum (20min) to discover that these excavated ruins are indeed in a better shape and more interesting than those of Pompeii. The other great thing is that there are only a few adventurous tourists at this wonderful site that used to be on the coast but after the eruption it is now 5klms inland !!! GO THERE !!!

The Artecard gives you 2 free admissions then discounts plus 3 days of travel. The 3T is travel only. Pompeii admission is 11€, Herculaneum is 11€, the Archaeology Museum is 6.50€ so somethings are better value with the free admission than others. If you planned to buy the 3T and pay to visit Pompeii, the Artecard would save you 4€.

Also recalled from earlier visit and it's a shame the help desk is no help since it's listed under the FAQ's on the Roma Pass website. It's worded slightly different than a couple of years ago (Forum was free then though).

And just to be certain, it's the Tutta la Regione 3 Giorni Campania Artecard that I am seeking for local transportation and access to two sites. Correct?
And would anyone be familiar enough with Napoli Centrale as to guide me to the kiosk in which the card is purchased?

Whilst that doesn't address multiple visits to the same site, it's perhaps worth noting the terms of the combination ticket for the Colosseum, Palatine and Forum...

Yes. There are other passes that include transport, but they are just for either Naples or Naples and Caserta and wouldn't include Pompeii. The 7 day pass does not include transport.

No clue as the terminal was under much construction last time I was through there. It only says Info point on the website and Trenitalia lists two different places as info points.
