Pompeii

Hi, Has anyone recently been to Mt. Vesuvius and Pompeii from Naples by train? If so can they share their experience (and the cost involved). Thanks.

Hi IH,

Take the Circumvesuviana commuter train from the downstairs of Naples Centrale (Garibaldi) to Pompeii Scavi. It's only a few euros.

Is it the same fare to go to Vesuvius and Pompeii? Or do I have to purchase 2 diff tickets? How much travel time will it take?

Recently returned from Rome. Ira has hit it right on. My visit to Pompeii took several wonderful hours at the ruins. No time to visit the Mount.

Ok, so I need to purchase a ticket from the Naples station on Circumvesuviana. Trip to Pompeii might be around 30 mins. Then after spending some time in the ruins , head to the mount. The mentioned return fare in bus - is it upto the last 1000m or is it upto the place where I need to take another bus to go up the mount? I am hoping to this tomm before 4pm as I have a train to catch to Rome from Naples... Wish me luck
