hi.i visit this travel board everytime i am planning a trip, to europe or any other place i plan to visit. i also buy the fodors guide books. both are always very helpful. i follow this board for months before i travel, which is 3-4 times a year, as my vacation time allows. when i visit this board there seems to be alot of stuff that is very unrelated to the reason we are all here. the quips people make to each other are pointless to the ones that visit once a week or even every day as they plan their trip. i have also posted on this board with honest, and what i believe to be informed information that i hope others are able to relate to. sometimes i never see my reply. i do, however , see the banter that i don't really understand or care to read. perhaps these folks need to be communicating on their own private e-mails. these are my observations. i think it may be hard to read between the lines of some of the replies. there is wonderful advise from which i have benefitted. i will always come back to this board. the numbers don't matter as much as the info. i just wish the posters would stay to the subjects. just wondering what other boards that may be out there that i don't know about. any info would be appreciated. G.

I visit this board just once in a while, just to keep up to date on Italy, and provide advice/impressions whenever I think it may be helpful. I lived in Italy for 3 years, and travel back about 1 x year since then, as I am hooked on the food and culture. I do get to travel on business to other places like Israel/Turkey/Egypt, and this board has always been a big help!

I have only recently discovered Fodors while researching a trip to Las Vegas and have found it extremely helpful. So Ive now tried it for a trip to London and once again it has been useful. I will probably visit once a day to see if there is anything new of interest until after my trips, then probably wont use it again until the next one.

I only found this board about 2 months ago when "walter" posted about it on another board. Now this is the first board I check as soon as I get up. I have already cut and pasted a bunch of info for our upcoming March trip to Italy. And the people here are generally helpful and it's not a clique like some boards. Also, even though people don't register, there aren't nearly as many "losers" and "trolls" like there are on the google boards (imho). I'm Hooked!!

Merry Christmas 2002!

I use this board quite a bit to firm up plans for travel plus comment on trips I have taken. I have found the information to be pretty good if you use it along with independent research in books. Plus, its fun to read.

See all the regulars again in 2003.

I check in every day or two and have gotten to appreciate the various "personalities" that consistently contribute. The recent renewal of the where-do-you-live thread was fun, giving further insight into the fodorites.

Don't really care about age, sex, nationality etc...the advice is sincere and seems pretty on target to me.

I am just beginning to plan our first trip to Munich and to Austria. I found the comments listed here very interesting as a starting point in my research. Sounds like there is some experience speaking and that's going to be helpful as I plan our trip. Our goal: Fly to Munich and drive through some beautiful countryside to Austria. FAmily history, etc. driving us, but want our young daughter to appreciate the beauty of the environment. Any suggestions appreciated. LIke I said, just starting our research and planning.

We usually have to plan our holidays quite far in advance in order to fly using our ffmiles. Then I have to wait 6 months until I can get to our destination.
I use that time to make sure that we can use our time in France, Italy, France, Ireland, France, England to get the most enjoyment that we can possibly pack into the short time that we can visit these wonderful places.
I am soooo thankful for the people who contribute on a regular basis. My family members joke about the planning that I go through, but my husband just happily tells them I plan great vacations. I thank you all.
An aside: Last October he announced one evening that anyone was welcome to join us on our next European Holiday, but the requirement will be that 'I' plan it.
I am confident that we will return home rewarded and refreshed. My thanks to you all.
