Point to Point

Is it cheaper to purchase point to point tickets here in the US. from Eurail.com or is it better to wait until I get to Germany?
I will be travelling from Munich to Vienna with a stop in Salzburg. Later I will be travelling from Prague to Munich.

It is probably going to be cheaper to buy your point-to-point tickets and any seat reservations IN Europe. Why? For one thing, if you use an agency such as RailEurope you'll end up paying shipping and handling fees if nothing else. There is also the ever-lingering question of whether or not the price of tickets will be marked up by the various agencies.

Seat reservations, should you even need them, are DEFINITELY cheaper to buy in Europe.

You should eb able to buy all your tickets once you arrive in Germany. It is soemtimes helpful if you know the specific date and train timing which you can write out on a piece of paper and hand to the booking agent. If you are doing this in Munich you can also book tickets through the EurAide office located in the main station.

I often saw special one way fare sale btw Germany and certain major cities in the neighboring countries advertised in the train stations but not in the internet.

You can purchase the tickets directly from the Deutsche Bahn (German Rail) site and avoid Rail Europe's fees, if you want to buy them in advance.

Thank all of you for your very helpful information. Through Eurail one can buy open tickets, ie., one ticket for Munich to Vienna in which one can stop over a day in Salzburg without purchasing another ticket. Will I be able to purchase the same thing in Munich?
