Hi Ihopp-
Sorry, don't check the site on a regular basis. The way we chose Athens, Naxos and Santorini was checking out what everyone was saying about the islands. I think going to Mykonos for a day excursion sounds like a wonderful idea - maybe we will do that. Folegandros sounds lovely but just afraid of the ferry schedules and I hear Naxos is just wonderful. Santorini has been on my list from the start. We are now in the process of getting custom package prices from different travel agents. I've decided not to book everything on my own - i'm having someone else worry about the reservations, flights, interconnections from island to island. ciao!

Re the day trip to Mykonos: you will have to check around on Naxos for the boat that takes people to Delos/Mykonos as a day trip. There are ticket agents around the harbour that can help you. I don't have any specific information, but http://www.naxosisland.com/facilities.html mentions this excursion.
I wouldn't attempt taking an ordinary ferry to Mykonos and counting on getting back to Naxos on another ferry. It may be possible, but there is risk of delay, and you could end up overnight on one island with your room and belongings on another.

Bubaruskie-thanks for the reply. Your trip sounds very similiar to ours. For me, a big part of the trip is the planning-deciding the itinerary, picking the cute little places we'll stay, working out the logistics, etc. Although, I am stressing already and we have a whole year to go.
Heimdall-Thanks, we will definitely consider a tour to Delos and maybe Mykonos for the day.
Now we will start reseaching places to stay. Found a lot of great recommendations on this board and various websites.
How far in advance should we book accommodations for June, 2007? For our other trips to France and Italy, we booked several months ahead...I assume the same is true for Greece?
So far, we like:
Hotel Glaros, Gallini, and Naxos Royal on Naxos
Hotel Dina, Manis Inn, or Pension Sofia in Paros
Art Maisons, Chelidonia, Alexanders, and Oia Mare on Santorini
