Please recommend an Italian restaurant in London
I'm looking for an upscale Italian restaurant in London, I'm thinking Zafferano's. Can anyone comment on this restaurant? I'm very picky and won't eat anything out of the ordinary, which means fish(not shellfish)fowl, peas, by the way, what's with all the peas in England? I don't really have a price range in mind but probably I don't want to spend over 100 GBP for two with wine. Thanks.

chicken and fish are "out of the ordinary"?

what do you mean by "what's with"? do you have a specific question?

I didn't mean that chicken and fish were out of the ordinary, just that I don't like either one. As for peas, they are served in all the pubs and in my section of the U.S. they're aren't alot of peas and I happen to HATE them.
I just wondered why peas are so prevelant in England. Also, I thought I would give some specifics as to my likes/dislikes so that someone could make a suggestion that would be helpful to me.

My dear, obviously your palate is more suited to fast food restaurants than fine dining.
Peas have a fabulously sweet flavour, and with some butter and seasoning are a suitable addition to many dishes.
If you can't eat such exotic food as chicken and fish, you'll have to stick to beef, or is that even more tropical?
Save your money and narrow minded attitudes for less reknowned restaurants.

FYI, in Regency England the success of a ball for the cream of society was measured by whether or not the buffet table included peas, a great luxury.
My husband hated peas because he grew up on the canned variety. Now I make frozen peas with scallions, rosemary, and a pinch of sugar, and he eats them with pleasure.

Here are a couple:
Ristorante Le Palme D'jan
65 Wilton Road SW1V 1DE
Telephone: Tel: 020 7828 6908
Definitely upscale and very nice, in the Victoria Station neighborhood. (It's been a couple of years, but I would think it's probably still a good one.)
Here's one in SOHO that's nice and has some great companion wines for your dinner, but pretty reasonable:
Don Luigi Bar & Ristorante
134-136 Wardour Street
Tel: 020 7437 8845
Was last there in April and it was great.

Thanks for the responses. m_kingdom2 I was counting on you to respond. Yes, I do like fast food. Do you have an opinion on Zafferano's or another Italian restaurant? I'm not going to apologize for my tastes, I know I eat like a 10yr. old but I'm happy. I don't want to shock you but I usually eat at the Hard Rock 2x's on a 7 day trip to London. By the way, I pick peas out of pot pies as well.

I'm quite sure I've no idea what a "pot pie" is.
Seriously, don't waste your money on Zafferano's which is a good standard "classic" Italian, you won't appreciated the difference in quality between there and one that costs half the price.

<i>"I'm quite sure I've no idea what a "pot pie" is."</i>
It's similar to a British meat pie, filled with either a chicken, beef or turkey stew.
It's not exactly "upscale" but <i>Il Fornello</i> on Southampton Row in Bloomsbury has very good Italian food.
