PLEASE help with Greece!!!

I'm trying to plan a trip to Greece for this June or July. The best airfare I can find from Knoxville is about $1300. Is this reasonable???

Easyjet flies from London Gatwick to Athens for about £50 each way. So, that's <$200 roundtrip. However, it leaves 6:30am, so you need to stay a night in London.

TYS to London in the summer is not cheap. About $900.

Still, that's about $1,100; a little cheaper than $1,300.

Go Today has an air/hotel package to Athens for 7 days/6 nights through June 10 for $1244 or during July for $1494. They also have an Athens/2 island package for 9 nights for $1594 through June 15 or Athens/3 islands for 12 nights for $1794. The island/Athens combos inculde airport transfers and flights and ferries between islands.

Won't fares depend on the specifics? Isn't it more expensive to depart and/or return on a weekend? Isn't it cheaper if you extend your stay OVER a weekend? Isn't it cheaper if you are willing to accept more enroute stops?

That said, wouldn't the easiest way to price this out, given a departure city that not all airlines service, be by checking with places like Orbitz, Travelocity, and Expedia?

FWIW, I priced out weekend-weekend travel dates of July3/July 25 and came up with $1210 RT using Delta/Air France.
