Please help today with Cornwall

We, mother and adult daughter have been traveling by car for a week. Lovely country but getting tired of driving and different hotel each night. We are leaving Frome soon on our ways to Wells cathedral and then onto Cornwall.

Please suggest 1 location we can stay 2 nights. We need to be back within 2 hours of Heathrow by Sunday night.

DD wants to see "Cornwall". She is not more definite than that. Any coast will do.

Thank you for any quick response.

From Wells you are closest to the North Devon coast, which iis beautiful. I would head toward Lynmouth/Lynton.

BUT, you are heading further away from Heathrow, about 4 hours, minimum.

Burnham on Sea is probably your closest point to Wells, never been there.

Going into Cornwall is getting you further away.

So, I think you either have a longer than two-hour drive to Heathrow Sunday morning, not a great idea, or you see a bit of North Devon this afternoon and tomorrow but head closer to Heathrow Saturday afternoon/evening.

That's my suggestion but there are probably better ones.

I'd personally forget about Cornwall - for the reasons Cathinjoetown mentions. Anywhere in Cornwall will be hours from LHR - 5 hours minimum.

Even most places in North or south Devon will a long drive from LHR (3.5 to 4 hours mostly)

How about somewhere on the Dorset coast? Really beautiful but still about 3 hours from LHR.

If closer to the airport is what you want, I'd consider maybe Lymington/the New Forest/Hampshire. Around 2 hrs from LHR on a good day.

Too late - they wanted somewhere to stay last night and the night before and are leaving the country today (or possibly early tomorrow morning)

Yes, we could not benefit from your answers. But Thank you.

DD really wanted to go to Cornwall. We took the slow way and drove through Dartmoor. We loved it! (but not the driving part through forest) Upper reaches we saw goats, sheep and ponies. Very beautiful and different from other landscapes I have seen.

Stayed in a B&B in Plymouth because of last minute booking for a Friday night and were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves within close walking distance of the Barbican area with the Plymouth Steps and many restaurants.

Saturday drove to Salcombe, which we liked very much and then saw not much more as DD was ill. A long drive back on Sunday but we were glad we had gone.
