Please Help: One night and a morning in Paris, what should we do??
My 60 yr old mother and I arrive in Paris at 3pm on Fri Sept 1st and are flying out of CDG at 1:30pm the next day -Saturday- so Would love to see as much as possible in our limited time there... including a visit to the Louvre. We also are not sure what part of Paris to stay in (or what hotel for that matter- want a nice hotel for $100 - $150) Would also like to be in a location where we could stroll the streets at night near our hotel for dinner/drinks/etc.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi
Well, you could do the Eiffel tower at night and there is also a nice view from Arc de triomphe. You have you check that the Louvre is open by the way. Most of the museums are closed one day a week. My wife and I went to Paris in April. I have posted a trip report with pictures on my homepage http://gardkarlsen.com/Paris_France.htm . Maybe you can find some uuseful info there. Have a great trip

I would definitely plan on visiting the Louvre on Friday - it is open until 9:45 on Fridays and you simply won't have time to visit it on Sat. I'd probably stay somewhere in the 1st or just across the river in teh 6th so you would be close to the Louvre
Your Sat. will pretty much be limited to a short walk around your hotel's neighborhood. Is your flight out of CDG to somewhere in Europe, or is it transatlantic? if long haul, you will have to be at CDG by 11:30 at the latest and 10:30 wouldn't be too early. So, you'd need to be out of the hotel and on your way to the airport by 10:00 or before.

Hi hs,
We always stay at the Hotel Bonaparte, 61 Rue Bonaparte in the 6th. From 124E dbl w/bkfst. It is located near 3 metro stops. Has AC
Tel 33 1 43 26 97 37
FAX 33 1 46 33 57 67
www.hotelbonaparte.fr
For more info, enter "Hotel Bonaparte" in the "search this forum" box.

It's about 2 km (0:30 hr) walk to the Louvre, or you could take the no 4 metro to the Hotel de Ville stop and change to the no. 1 line.
With only an evening in Paris, museums would not be high on my priority list.

There is an unuasual and interesting event on the first Friday of every month at 3:00pm in Notre Dame Cathedral. The Holy Crown of Thorns and a spike from the cruxificion are venerated. Whether they are or aren't is a matter of personal belief. The ceremony lasts about two hours as all in attendance can approach the relics for a close look (or kiss). If this at all interests you, you may try to stop in as it is truly unique.
