PLEASE HELP!
Dear Reader,

We am frantically trying to get hotel/hostel accomodations for mid-May. My husband and I just need a place to stay for Saturday and Sunday (5/17 & 5/18)and have not been successful in finding anything for a reasonable price (under 3500 crowns). It's difficult to find a place due to the crowds expected for the Spring Music Festival...

I've sent a flurry of emails to a number of hostels/hotels and am waiting to hear back.

We would have loved to be near Old Town, but now realize that may not be possible.

We would very much appreciate any suggestions you might have (including names of individuals you run bed&breakfast type accomodations which may not be advertised on the internet).

Thank you!

Although you didn't mention what city, I think you're meaning Prague since you mention Old Town. Not to worry....contact: [email protected]
(their email address) and tell them your dilemma. They are so nice and will HELP you in your time of need. They offer everything from 1-5 star hotels and/or apartments for the best rate. Just give them your dates and they'll do the rest. They'll even pick you up at the airport if necessary. Marcie

This thread DOES come up when you click on Czech Republic in the "country selection box".

So, assuming that it IS Prague - - does anyone have an answer for her question? Is there any website? (like www.venere.com for example) - - that allows searching by criteria, including availability (and/or price, location).
In March stayed in good sized apt. on corner of Anglicka and Balbinova. It was on first floor, modern plumbing and newly renovated. It was only 2000 K per night. It is called Apartment Balbinova, see pictures ect. at www.hotelsprague.net/balbinova. I forgot to mention it is only 5 mins. walk to Wencalas Square (sp).

Well I know a good apartment that will be $30/night if you book through the owner. It's in Mala STrana and a few minutes walk to charles bridge (through a nice park).

I would recommend this place ... if you're interested please send me an e-mail and I'll give you the phone number as I don't want to put a private number on a public board. We stayed there again (after three years) two weeks ago and it's still good and the poeple are still nice.

About the apartment .. it's a studio apartment but apart fromthe double bed, there's also a king sized sofa-bed. There'syour own shower/toilet and two sinks. Ther eis enough room to move around and I it is self-catered so there is a microwave and stuff.

I would stay there everytime I go to PRague from now on. It is really nice to walk back after a night out via Charles Bridge ... it can be almost deserted and it is so peaceful and beautiful when it's only you on it

hah, I knew where it was because I'm going to be there!!! Only I booked my hotel months ago because of the festival, and even then it took writing a pleading letter in Czech to get the room I wanted, as the booking service said the hotel I preferred was full. I wasn't looking at that price level, but I guess everything gets booked. Well, there are tons of web sites with czech hotels on them, so that's all I can suggest, keep trying. Here are a few big ones:
www.avetravel.cz
www.marys.cz
www.hotels czech.com
www.praguehotels.cz

Ahoj!
Have you tried Hotel Anna? The rooms are under 3500 Kc, and the hotel is well located.

http://www.hotelanna.cz/

We also had trouble finding accomodation in Prague. We were travelling at Whitsun two years ago.Eventually we got a Best Western callec hotel Alta. This was fine for what we needed as the option was not to go.However it was about 20 minutes by underground from the centre-10 mins by tube and then 10 mins walk.It wasn't expensive. We walked past the old hotels around the Charles bridge and I did think that I'd like to stay there next time but I've read since that they tend to be noisy.
