For the first time ever, I have done a search on this site and come up with nothing.

(That doesn't bode well for these questions, now does it?)

My son, who has pored over Playmobil catalogs since he was three, is learning to read. We are going to Paris in the fall. He has deciphered, from the catalog, that Playmobil has a "Fun Park" in "Paris." He is really excited about this.

If anyone can help:

1) Does "Fun Park" = just a big giant store?

2) Is «La Cerisaie» Fresnes really "Paris"? (Looks like we can get there, using public transportation, RER + bus.)

3) Is this France's answer to Chuckie Cheese Hell?

A penitentiary? Boy howdy, Kerouac, now that's what I call a field trip.... Should make for an interesting, if crowded, bus journey. And that would explain the odd look of the Google satellite picture.

Well, nothing so far is especially selling me on this idea, I have to say. Except my son's enthusiasm.

I checked out the prison on Google Earth - the exercise yard was empty when the picture was taken.

If you go to Fresnes on public transportation on a visiting day, I expect that you will indeed be in the company of a number of spouses or girlfriends of inmates.

If your son really likes playmobil, then I think he would have a great time. I used to host 'Playmobil Play days' in my toy store where kids would have several sets of Playmobil to play with. They really enjoyed it.

You also will find some sets for sale that are not available yet in the US.

I hope to go to their place in Zirndorf (Nuremburg) when I next go to Germany

We used to go to Playmobil Fun Park when my daughter was younger and she really enjoyed it. It is not just a big giant store, children can really play with different playmobile games, and of course buy spare parts or Playmobile boxes. You can spend an afternoon at Playmobile Fun Park. The exact location is 22-24 allée des Jachères, ZA de la Cerisaie, 94260 Fresnes. It is located on a shopping center in a suburb of Paris, Fresnes, and you need a car. We got lost the first time went there. If you go by public transportation then you can find your way with www.ratp.fr , and enter "22 allee des Jachères 94260 Fresnes" to locate the place. How long will you stay in Paris ? You could spend a day at Parc Asterix, at about 40 km north from Paris. There is a nice playground inside "Le jardin du Luxembourg", where he can also have poney riding. Don't miss la Cité des Sciences dedicated to children, where they will learn about sicences through games and experiments.

Thank you so much for your responses. We're in Paris for a week in November, as part of a 10-week trip, and although we'll be doing a lot of learning in museums and historic sites, it will be so fun to let my son do some of the things he has his heart set on.

(We're essentially "homeschooling" while in Europe, as part of an agreement with my son's school in the US.)
