Having fun with honeymoon planning. Any ideas on filling in the gaps from Lake Como to Provence for two weeks in late April. So far it looks like a flight into Milan with three nights at Villa D'este at Lake Como. Would like to see explore southern France also. Have roughly two weeks and can do open-jaw. Ground transport is undecided. Food and wine lovers. Not on a tight budget. Please help.

This is roughly a requerst to connect heaven to paradise, you know. What's in between - - at least in Italy is not as interesting as either end.<BR><BR>Your main decision will be whether to focus on the Cote d'Azur or the eastern areas of Provence or both.<BR><BR>So many good choices: Monte Carlo/Monaco, St. Paul de Vence, Gourdes, Montauroux/Tourettes, Antibes, the corniche de l'Esterel and so much more - - and depart from Nice<BR><BR>or continue on to Aix en Provence, Les Baux, Arles, Avignon, Orange, Nimes, St. Remy, the Luberon - - and on and on. From this part of Provence, you can connect back to almost anywhere from airports in MSE, MPL or Nimes as well as the TGV back to Paris from Avignon.<BR><BR>Congratulations on your new life in marriage.<BR><BR>Best wishes,<BR><BR>Rex<BR>

Just returned from Provence and would like to pass on a wonderful B&B in L'Isle sur la Sorgue (20 minutes from Avignon) where we stayed. It is called Clos St Antoine and is located about 2 kilometers from the town centre. The town itself is charming, full of antique shops (which is why I chose to stay there) and they have a Sunday Market. The B&B is quite well done, the bedrooms are in private, separate little buildings, and the grounds are beautiful. They have a website. I thought it was a good place to base out of as long as you have your own vehicle.

Little corrections to Rex's post:<BR>Avignon, Arles etc... is Western Provence.<BR>MSE is Manston airport in Kent. Marseille is MRS.<BR>Gourdes - you mean Gourdon (close to Grasse) or Gordes (close to Avignon)?<BR><BR>David: I would spend 3/4 days around Nice, and 3/4 days around Avignon, and take a day driving slowly from one to the other. <BR>

How embarrassingly dyslexic of me - - yes that "other east" in Provence! i.e. west!<BR><BR>And yes, MRS.<BR><BR>And I guess that Cipieres is close to Gourdon - - not Gordes. Is Gourdon the well known ville perch&eacute;?<BR><BR>I sure flubbed this post. But the sentiment is still the same - - have to decide wether "south of France" means Cote d'Azur or Provence or both.<BR>

Years ago I basically did go from Lake Como to the Provence, but you have to like to drive in the mountains. It was not direct. I went through Switzerland, and then took the Route des Alpes starting in Chamonix, on to Brian&ccedil;on, and on to the C&ocirc;te d'Azur. Snow may be a problem in April, but you could take the Route Napol&eacute;on as an alternative. You might be able to get some skiing in.
