Planning honeymoon in England!

Can anyone tell me what the weather is like in mid-March? We're starting in London and driving north to Edinburgh.
Also when is the best time to purchase our airline tickets for the best price?
Any other recommendations on hotels, restaurants, sites not to miss, very much appreciated! Thanks!

Don't miss "The Lake District" in the North West, you could easily incorporate it in your drive up to Edinburgh. It might rain a little in mid March but that does not detract from the beautiful countryside and pretty villages. It is all great for romantic walks and cosy evenings infront of the fire. The local tourist Authorities web site is -:

http://www.cumbria-the-lake-district.co.uk/

Have a wonderful time wherever you end up!

I can only be of limited assistance with the English bit, but if I can help with specifics on the Borders or Edinburgh which (of course is not in England, please let me know

Renee,

Just check the atlas before you go! As the post above notes, you will not last long in Edinburgh if you refer to it as "England". Lesser men have been roasted on a spit for this slight!

Enjoy!

I of course realize that Edinburgh is in Scotland.
Does anyone have any advice on when to purchase airline tickets prior to March?

The weather in England is not very consistent, I'm afraid. In March, the temperature could be anything from freezing up to 50-ish (farenheit). If you're lucky, it will be crisp and bright; if you're unlucky, it will be foggy and damp.

As well as the Lake District, you should take time to visit the Yorkshire Dales (about 200 miles north of London). Wharfedale is my favourite - it has rolling green hills, limestone craggs, little villages with drystone walls. In March, you might see some early lambs.

I have found that if you purchase your air tickets prior to December 31 and leave for travel prior to March 31, you can get a very good rate. As always, check the low airfare sites. I recommend cheaptickets.com
Have a great trip!!
