Planning a road trip with a baby in August
Hello everyone!
I'm planning a trip to Iceland this Summer. We will be 4 adults plus our ~2 years old baby girl.
Currently the plan is to be in Iceland for 12-13 days, from August 22 until September 4 or 6 (depending on the flight)
We plan to hire a car (a station wagon or a 4x4 off road) and make the ring road around Iceland. Regarding accommodation, we plan to stay in apartments or hostels, mostly through Airbnb.
A few qestions:
1) Is it a good idea to make the whole trip around Iceland with a baby this age? Or maybe it's better to settle in the western and southern region for a shorter period, say ~10 days?
2) Will it be too much in a rush and changing places? I'm not fond of the idea of staying every day at another place for sleeping.
3) Is end of august - early September a good season? Weather conditions will be still acceptable to travel with a baby this period of the year?
4) should we begin the ring road clockwise or counter-clockwise? AFAIK weather in the western region changes quickly in September and tends to be less crowded, for this I thought to begin in that region including the golden circle area, move to the northern and eastern parts, and finish in Southern Iceland when in early September should be a bit less crowded.
Any suggestions or advice are highly welcome! Thanks in advance!!

Here's an updated itinerary after more research. The plan now is to chose a clockwise itinerary, and I've been advised to drive directly to the Snaefellsness area and stay there also the first night.
- three nights in Snaefellsness Peninsula area - (for example Stykkishólmur)
- one night between Stykkishólmur and Myvatn
- two nights around lake Myvatn
- two nights in Eastern parts - Egilsstadir/Seydisfjordur or Borgarfjordur Eystri area
- one night in Hofn area
- one night in the area around Vik
- three nights in the Reykjavik region - including one day for golden ring tour, and blue lagoon , before flying back home
Would you change anything in this itinerary? Maybe three night in Snaefellsness Peninsula are too much? Should I make it 2 nights and add one night somewhere else?
Thanks!
