Planning 2 weeks in Italy....

We are planning to spend 2 weeks in Italy this summer and would like suggestions as to the "dream Italy trip". We would like to stay in 4 or 5 star hotels , and the trip must include the Positano Capri area. A special 10th anniversary tour. Thanks

You're going to need to hustle. Of the three months that most people think of as summer, 3 days are already gone from the best one (June), as far as traveling to Italy.

Of course, the vernal equinox doesn't come until September 20, so the NEXT best "summer" month (September) still leaves you a little time.

Some people will argue against you restricting your trip only to 4- and 5- star hotels; but if you're set on it, some suggestions that might make for a princely list would include the Crowne Plaza Minerva in Rome, Villa d'Este in Cernobbio (Lake Como), and perhaps, Locanda Amorosa, near Siena.

Best wishes,

Rex
Hello Susan, You have my favorite name,I have been married to a Susan for 43 years now. If you truly want a dream trip to Italy, then my best advice is to not try to do too much. Since Positano is a given, I suggest you include no more than 3 other destinations in your itinerary. The most logical ones would be Rome, Florence, and the Tuscany hill towns. A key variable will be if you plan to drive for portions of the trip. Also, I would suggest you not go in July or August if that is possible. Let me know if you need specific details--it sounds like a fun trip.
