Plane or train?

hello...I was just checking ryanair.com's site and noticed that there is no direct flight from Florence to Paris. I was thinking of training from Florence to Pisa then taking a ryanair flight to Brussels (maybe spend a day or two there) then train to Paris. Then, I'll have to go back to Florence again. I'm planning this for October with a 9-day time period (hoping to spend a week in Paris).

Should I opt for the train all the way through instead? If so, it's probably worth it to get a Select pass, right (since i'll be doing roundtrip)?

as always, thank you!!!

Yes, instead of taking the train to Pisa, fly to Bruxelles and then take the train to Paris, I would suggest to take a train from Florence to Paris. There is one, which departs from Firenze Santa Maria Novella at 7.50pm, Night train (with wagon lits and sleeperettes) arriving in Paris Bercy the following morning at 8.40 am.

Check out Ryanair flights from Milano. AFAIK there is a direct flight from Orio al Serio airport to Paris. You can take the train to Milano, from Centrale station you will find buses taking you straight to Orio al Serio Airport.

THANK YOU so much for the suggestions. Alice, I think I'll do that.

Now, a trivial(?) question: How far in advance should I book the flight w/ RyanAir? Should I wait until I get there in September which would give me a month prior to departure in October?Or should I book earlier?

thanks again...

Craisin - If you plan to use RyanAir you should book asap, preferably today.

They currently list flights at less than EURO 10.00 each way (plus tax) from Orio al Serio (Bergamo Airport).

These low fares will not be available for long. With RyanAir the earlier you book the cheaper the fare.

BUT ...

N.B RyanAir flies to Beauvais, which is some distance from Paris.

Hope this helps ...

Steve
