Best way to travel to Paris from Nice

We are staying in Nice for New years and My daughter would like to travel to Paris for the day, Is there a direct train? Would you know what the average cost if there is? We have been to Paris a few times but flew directly and are new to the train system.

Thanks for any input.

Flying is typically superior in time and cost, even when you include the hassles of getting to and from airports.

See whichbudget.com

Best wishes,

Paris and France are about 925 km apart. The trip isn't doable by train in a day: the train journey (even on the high speed train) is about 5.5-6 hours long. You can fly from Nice to Paris and back in a day. It would probably cost upwards of 200 or more euros per ticket and you'd need to book early. (It's possible to find cheaper flights but to get the earliest departure and last return flight you usually have to pay a premium.) Keep in mind that airports could be crowded during the holiday season, which means that you need to go to the airport earlier (maybe 90 minutes in advance), and that would eat into the day's time. Note that, even if the train was a realistic option from a time perspective, it's quite possible that it would be as expensive as flying on this route.

Oops, I should have added that flying time is about 1h20m, so count on spending at least 2.5 hours at the airport or in the air in each direction, plus 20 minutes to an hour (depending on the form of transportation) to get into the city. That doesn't leave much time left for exploration.

In short, Paris is not a reasonable day trip from Nice.

Thank you for your help. I am recommending my daughter fly to Paris in the winter, (cold but cheap) instead of visiting from Nice.
