Pizzeria and Gelato recommendations wanted

Gang:

I'll be leaving soon for a trip that will take me to Rome, Florence and Venice.

In each city I'll be staying at hotels relatively close to the train stations.

Any recommendations you can offer for good pizza and gelato places in these areas? Or if not, then just in general? I love the food in Italy (was in Rome in 2000), and am looking very forward to experiencing it again soon!

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

The best pizzerias in Rome aren't near the train station. Da Baffetto is near Piazza Navona, Remo is in Testaccio and Ivo and Dar Poeta are in Trastevere. There is a good geletaria near Piazza Vittorio Emanule called Fassi. Also, San Crispino near the Trevi Fountain isn't too far away.

After loads of gelatos and pizzas throughout Rome and Italy i've really never had a bad one...they all tasted great so i wouldn't see the need to be too choosy. Gourmet pizza and gelato no doubt exist but i like just dropping into any old caffe or pizza take out joints will also yield real authentic Italian ice and dough.

There's several wonderful places for gelato in Florence. The only one whose name I remember is Carabe. (It's supposed to have an accent mark over the e but I don't know how to type that in.) I remember it because it was our favorite and it's just down the street from the Galleria dell'Accademia.

Just thinking about it makes me miss gelato! Have a great time.

We stayed near the train staion in Venice and had gelato every night. As I remember, the one over the first bridge north east, on the right was good. Cost 1 €

In Florence, the ones right near the Duomo cost 3, nearer to the Arno (?via degli Speziali) were 2.
