picos de europa in November?
My wife and I will be traveling to Spain 10/29-11/10/06 and will be winding up in Bilbao. Picos de Europa sounds like a great place to visit. Have read that it is difficult to drive there during the winter - question is will early November be too close to winter to venture a trip? Also, is this a doable day trip from Bilbao?
Appreciate any thoughts.

Picos de Europa is indeed an absolutely wonderful place to visit, but I just wouldn't do it in November. The Parador at Fuente De where the cable car is located is even closed Nov.-Dec.-Jan.-Feb. and you just never can tell about the weather.
And it's not a doable day trip from Bilbao.
Even though you may encounter rain in Nov, while in the area, I would do a day trip or better still, stay a couple of days in San Sebastián, the crown jewel of the Spanish Basque coast-not for the beach, of course, but for the lovely and lively Belle Epoque city itself. It would be a shame to be so close and not get to know San Sebastián.
