Is photography permitted in any of the museums or palaces in Venice? I am interested in taking photos of ornate interiors of buildings. Thanks for any tips!

I recall during the Secret Itineraries tour at the Palazzo Ducale, as we first entered we could photograph the courtyard. But as we began to climb the golden staircase up to the interior, our guide announced, "Take your photos now, because you are not allowed to take any other photographs of the interior."

Photos are not allowed inside the Basilica either.

Definitely not allowed in the Doges Palace, though it was allowed in the courtyard and the dungeon. Check the museum etc. websites, they usually tell you whether or not photography is permitted inside, if it's all in Italian just google the exact web address and you can select viewing it under google translate.
