Phone card - help leaving tomorrow

I am leaving for a tour to Croatia and Slovenia with smartours tomorrow. What is the best way and most reasonable to make phone calls to USA. My parents are not well so I need to make several calls to them. Should I try to get a ATT phone card at Target or wait till I get to Croatia and buy a phone card there? Thanks

From my experience, it is much cheaper to buy phone cards over there.

I used a service last December that was great, because I could add more minutes by calling from my cellphone.
You can buy a SIM CARD from www.telestial.com - if you have an unlocked phone. They will assign you an UK telephone number. All calls you get from the States will be FREE, you pay for the calls you make depending on the card, maybe .39cents minute and no connection fee. Tell them where you are going and what you need, they will advise what is better for you. They also gave me a CALLING card,if you don't have an UNLOCKED cellphone, maybe they can help you with the CALLING CARD and have it delivered to your hotel, since you are leaving tomorrow.
Good Luck! Have a great trip!

You'll do better just picking up a phone card when you arrive. They sell them at kiosks usually.

I always use MCI - ATT does not work in some countries.
In checking MCI I found that Croatia does not allow calling cards.
Slovenia is not listed as a country with an access code.
Better contact your tour company and ask what is best.

ATT works from any private phones in any country as loing as you know your ATT country codes. For some reason though, certain phone booths don't accept it especially at the BRU airport where I had to use my cc and got charged $10 a call, including those that didn't get through!

Go to cloncom.com and buy time online. it is very reasonable. I used an online site that compared all the differnet services and they were the most reasonable and flexible.
