Phone Card

I wonder if there is a phone card that one can use throughout Europe, instead of buying a local one for every country? Could someone pls advise..

You can use any of the ATT or MCI locally purchased phone cards from the US throughout Europe.
You do have to have the access numbers for each country that you are placing the call from before you can connect.
Instructions are usually provided with the cards when purchased.
Hope this helps

I generally find the phone cards bought in the States to be a bit more to much more expensive than those bought locally in Europe.

I have used phone cards from 3 or 4 different companies and all were useable in the UK and on the continent, and a fraction the cost of ATT/MCI.

Any newsagent will have several to choose from and will know which ones are useable where.

A family member purchased one through AMEX in the US. It was nothing but a headache. The access number was always busy.

Thanks for advise. IN fact I don't reside in States, & info from similar topics suggest that I can get a local one easily from Tabacs etc.

that's more theory than practice. You might get a cheaper card in Europe but you are even more likely to be thoroughly ripped off. I would never by a card in Europe again. As they say, better the develi you know... With a US card, at least there is someone you can complain to later.

Well, it may be a theory, but I have used Europe-purchased phone cards on more than 15 trips (when I said 3 or 4 companies I didn't mean only 3 or 4 times). And have also used US cards many times -- before I smartened up. Even the cards purchased at Costco/Sam's Club ended up more expensive than those bought locally.

Sure - I suppose one could be ripped off. But it has never happened to me.
