Pescara

I am trying to gather information on this region for an upcoming trip and seem to find very little. Any help would be appreciated.

I have not been to Pescara but am also interested in the place as I have read about it in a book by Tim parks. He went there with his Italian inlaws and described it as a very popular beach resort for Italians. He really enjoyed his holiday there and said it was good for families. It is not often mentioned in the British press so should not be over run with tourists; I understand that Pavarotti has a place closeby and loves the area so it must be OK!

Pescara is in the Abruzzo, so look up books, web-sites etc using that as you key-word and you will have better luck. Its wonderful, encompassing, sea, (the Adriatic coast there can be wonderful, but is also full of working ports so do your home work) and the mountains are just at your back. Go see Lanciano and Atri for antiquities and few tourists and views of the coast. Back into the hills, check out Sulmona, particularly on market day, the genuine article, and also visit Scanno, quite untouched and breathtaking views. All are within day trips of Pescara which is itself a charming town. Ican't speak for the resort aspect as we were off season (April) and the Italians weren't there yet.

If you have specific questions about it let me know.

My good friend has family there and goes several times a year.

I could ask her on your behalf about anything specific.
