Pensione Accademia, Venice

We plan to go to Italy in October. I requested a reservation at Pensione Accademia and got it. There are a few things I need to consider: 1)it costs 400.000L($200)per night (standard rooms, 330.000L, are all taken; 2) it requests one night of deposit instead of a credit card gurantee, and 3) there is 50% chance we may have to cancel our whole trip.

I've heard so much about this hotel and love to stay even if it costs 400.000L. However, combining the Nos. 2 & 3 factors above, I'm hesitant. I know it is all up to me. But what do you think?

Find out what their cancellation policy is. I stayed there a while back, and they appeared to me to be honorable people. We also paid the deposit in advance.

This is a lovely pensione, and Venice is expensive. I remember their wonderful breakfasts -- not just coffee and a roll as is noted in many guidebooks. We had a lovely room (I think it was #29) that had a bedroom and an alcove with another bed; a door between the two. The bathroom was large, modern, and had things like bath sheets, hairdryer, etc. We liked the location, too, as we were in a quiet residential area, yet within walking distance of the sights.

The choice is yours, but if it were me I'd go for it. Depends on when you'll know if you need to cancel or not.

It's worth it. They are very nice and would probably accomodate you if you had to cancel. Believe me, people are waiting in line for a room. It really is a lovely place. Enjoy!

I asked about the cancellation policy when I made my reservation there - also concerned about having to send a check for deposit. They assured me that they would refund the deposit if I cancelled by the deadline. Lucky you getting the better room - those were the ones alreay taken when I made my reservation.

I've stayed there twice and heartily recommend it. Actually, I tell people not to stay there cause I don't want the word to get around, but we gotta be nice on this forum!! If you're lucky you'll get a room with a view of the canal. What makes it really nice is that the hotel is not right on the canal so you don't get as much noise. It is a small charming hotel with a terrific garden to have breakfast in and a great location. The price is unbeatable for what you get. Also, when I was there 3 years ago, Luigi forgot to apply my deposit to my bill. I faxed him when I got home and he promptly credited my VISA. Couldn't ask for nicer people.

Thank you, everyone who gave me advice. I decided to reserve the hotel after reading very positive things about this place. I sent travellers checks already. I can't wait!

We are going to Venice in October. Does anyone have a website or email address for the Pensione Accademia? Thanks.
