Pension help in Vienna, please!
Has anyone recently stayed at the Pension Neuer Markt ? We stayed there three years ago and can't locate it on any websites. Could you provide e-mail or website information. I'm sure this is a longshot, but...also if you know of any other pensions in the city centre, that are priced around $100 per night for an ensuit double please let me know. Thank you!

Tom, In the summer of of '97, my wife and I spent 3 nights at the Pension Zipser. The cost was about $90 (us) with tax and breakfast included. We had a private bath and the pension was very clean and very well located. It is about a 10 minute walk to the City Hall, where they have an outdoor movie thatre set up in the summer. Depending on when you are there and obviously your interests, I strongly recommend taking a bicycle tour of the city. There is a company with an office near the Prader(big ferris wheel) that runs tours of the city. Vienna is very bike friendly and we had a great time. Enjoy!!

I just visited Vienna this summer and
their tourist board has one of the
best WEB sites around, including
complete info on every hotel and
pension in the city. The general WEB
site is: info.wien.at
and the subsection on pensions/hotels
is: info.wien.at/e/hotel/index.htm

Anyway, Penion Neuer Markt is in there.
I stayed at a four star pension, the
Pension Museum in the 7th section,
which I can recommend. I had a large
double with view of the Hapsburg palace
for about $90 this summer, including
ensuite tiled bath. It is very quiet, the
mgt is most accomodating and it is
EXTREMELY convenient being within
walking distance of the Hapsburg palace3
and the major museums, and a major
Ubahn stop is less than a block that
goes directly downtown and to the
rail station (the Volks Opera stop).
Although very good, I will emphasize
it is not a deluxe place, even though
a 4-star pension (ie, somewhat ugly
furnishings and nylon bedspread, non
working TV, etc.) but the good points
outweighed the bad as I've mentioned
above. At $90 a night, you can't
complain--this room had parquet wood
floors, nice comforter, larger than most
bath and the included breakfast was
very good. I made reservations
directly using the FAX number on the
Vienna WEBsite.
