Peche Merle Reservation Question

When I reserved online for the Peche Merle cave tour, all that happened was a computer response which said "Thank you for filling out this form" and listed our name, date and time of visit and number of visitors as I had entered it on the computer. Should I have expected more? Do we just show up with this form?
Are there other Dordogne cave tours for May which we should be reserving for?

Yes, to the best of my recollection you just show up with the form (I believe you need to do so in advance - if memory serves, 30 mins) prior to the time and they run through the tab.

As we only did Peche Merle, I can't speak to your other question. Enjoy PM, it's great.

When I reserved at Pech Merle last summer, I received a confirmation stating the exact time of our visit and other information, including when and how to pick up tickets, see the museum and movie, and a phone number to call if you have to change or cancel.

The phone number is 05 65 31 27 05 in France, and you may want to call now or e-mail again before you go to make sure about your reservations.

The most important tour we reserved was Font de Gaume. Much more limited entry than Pech Merle, and I booked several weeks ahead. When we went in July, there were people who tried to buy a ticket and nothing was available for a month. This was a great cave, very intimate, lots of art.

At Pech Merle, while we did have reservations, we were running late so I called the above number and they changed our reservation to a later tour with no problem. It is a much larger cave and many more people can visit each day.

Nikki raises an important point. I seem to recall that what I got was an emailed confirmation, which was what I thought you were referring to by 'form.'
