That is quite a story worktowander. I can only imagine how frustrated you were with all the time and money you had to spend to get you life back in order. Thanks for the reminder to all of us that we all need to be careful with our belongings, especially that which can cause ID theft. I am glad you got your old passport back!!

Worktowander, I didn't see this thread the first time around. Sorry it all happened to you.
Once we ordered checks from the bank, and they went to our old address - bank's error. We went to the old apartment, asked the guy who lived there, he said he got only junk which he tossed.
The bank closed our checking account and opened a new one.
Few weeks later I got a phone call from a merchant telling my about a bounced check. Somebody was using my "lost" checks, and it was the merchant who lost money as he mailed something already.
Something bad happens to every one of us, even to the most careful!

Wow! What an ordeal WorkToWander! I'm glad you still got your things back. There's just something so satisfying about getting your long lost items returned. Now, at least you know where your lost IDs are! Much better than it floating somewhere out there being terribly misused by some miscreant.
