Parking in Sienna

My wife and I are staying in Pienza using it as our base for Tuscany. We plan on spending a day in SIena and I am trying to plan out the trip as much as possible. Where can one park in Siena? We also plan on visiting Montepulciano and Montelcino.

Your help is much appreciated.

Enter Siena from the " SIENA SUD" exit via the Porta Tufi to a large parking garage you cannot miss. You are a 7 minute walk to Il Campo from there. I would be there by 0930.

Thanks for the info, I like to be prepared and not just drive around lost.

Racer042,
If you just drove around Siena you would run into parking, see http://www.turismoverde.com/italia/i...pe/mappark.jpg

Henry - Are you sure the free lot you linked on Slowtrav for Montalcino is still free? There is a parking meter/machine at one end of the lot (end where you turn in). I assume it applied to the enter lot (part is paved and part isn't). The annoying thing about paying for parking in Montalcino is you have to guess how long you will be there as you have to pay in advance for X number of hours and leave the ticket on your dash showing.

kybourbon,
I haven't updated that link in years. You are right you have to pay in that lot in Montalcino. You even have to pay to park at Sant'Antimo.

We wandered around and parked in the same lot as the busses park by the Medici Fortress. It was a pretty long walk ( or we made it a long walk), but worked fine.

We also parked at the Medici Fortress. It is metred parking. Be sure to pay before you leave the lot as you cannot pay at the gate. Not a bad walk.
