Paris VOTE now for your favourites

Greg, it sounds like you have nothing to do. Go out, get some work out and you will realize there is more to life than coming up with some borring ideas that already were covered on this forum many, many times. Can't you do something useful this time?

walt so what are you doing exactly ???<BR>Criticizing , how very constructive of you.<BR>There are many new people on Fodors now who have not seen previous surveys , recommendations etc.<BR>A definitive list will help them save time in getting helpful advice from the majority of people on this site.<BR><BR>May be I should add most prolific , moaning , waste of space , pain in the ass poster to the list .<BR><BR>Think you might win that one<BR>

1. Favorite book: Time Out Guide Paris<BR>2. Travel agency: None. I do it myself.<BR>3. Airline: None that goes from LAX to Paris non-stop. <BR>4. Taxi to Montparnasse<BR>5. Favorite Hotel: Hotel Aiglon, 14th District (been going to this one since 1982) -- Close to everything in Montparnasse, good priced suites, and 2 bathrooms, what more could one ask for.<BR>6. Fave arrondissement: 6th/14th.<BR>7. Restaurant: any one of the little Breton creperies around rue Huyghens off bvd. Raspail<BR>8. Day restaurant: Street food! (hot dogs stuffed inside baguettes w/hot mustard!)<BR>9. Favorite shop: Au Printemps<BR>10. Other: Souleaido<BR>11. Monument: 3rd floor of the Eiffel Tower, last ride of the night up.<BR>12. Time of year: Anytime (!) but particularly enjoy 13/14 July.<BR>13. Daytrip: Versailles (but I haven't been to Giverny).<BR>14. Car rental: Are you SERIOUS?!<BR>15. Theatre: L'Olympia (30 years going to Paris, still do rock concerts, what can I say).<BR>16. Stroll: Luxembourg Gardens<BR>17. Sightseeing co. -- ME.<BR>18. Favorite memory: Bastille Day in 1994 had a particularly amazing fireworks display that I haven't seen equalled since; the BIG party in 1998 when France in a surprising upset took the world cup and became the "Champions du Monde" -- Paris ROCKED!; waving to then President Mitterand in 1985, and having him wave back.<BR>19. First surprising discovery: Les Arenes de Lutece.<BR>20. Coolest painting: Caillebotte's Floorscrapers.<BR>

Expedia or Orbitz (tie) but I use it only to compare airfares, then book the same fare directly with the airline<BR>3. Air France<BR>4. haven't used a shuttle, prefer taxi<BR>5. Favorite hotel of the ones I've stayed in is d'Aubusson<BR>of the ones I've dreamed of staying in, the Crillon<BR>6. Favorite arrondissement, 1st<BR>7. Favorite restaurant, Le Grand Vefour<BR>8. Laduree<BR>9. tend not to shop for clothes there<BR>10. other shop, Catherine, for perfume<BR>11.Monument--Ste Chapelle, if that counts<BR>12. favorite time of year late June<BR>(but only went at that time once)<BR>13. <BR> My favorite part of my recent trip to Paris was going to CDG and taking the plane to Rome.<BR>There is no comparison...........<BR>Rome has all the history (I mean real ancient history)<BR>Art like no other.<BR>The most beautiful monuments, churches, piazzas and fountains.<BR>The best wines (Wine Spectator's "wine of the year" the last 2 years -ITALIAN<BR>The greatest food<BR>The best fashion<BR>The most beautiful women<BR>The most friendly people<BR>The more romantic and beautiful language<BR><BR>And, hundreds of other reasons why anyone would prefer Paris to Rome.

I thought your survey was really fun. I lived in Paris 20 years ago. I can't remember all the details. I am going back this summer with my kids and I will do your survey with pleasure! Some people take things to seriously! Have fun!

Westminster in a dream; Hotel du danube on a budget<BR>6.St. Germain des Pres-6th<BR>7.Le Maupertu or Chez Maitre Paul- won't break the bank<BR>8. Any sidewalk cafe with kronenburg beer and a baguette avec frommage et jambon! Cafe de la Paix pricey but good people watching!<BR>9.Any of them especially Maison d"Ivre- pottery etc. on rue jacob<BR>10. any paper store and small boutiques in the Marais<BR>11.Eiffel tower then the Memorial de la Deportation behind Notre Dame.<BR>12. Anytime I can get there but May is #1.<BR>13. Chartres<BR>14. none<BR>15.Opera Garnier<BR>16. the small streets around the rue du buci and along the seine on the ill st. louis.<BR>17. none<BR>18. sharing my paris with my husband and throwing my dad's ashes into the seine.He was a confirmed francophile who would have loved this.<BR>19.THe suprises paris offers are the lovely gardens with statuary you can stumble upon wandering around.My favorite is the little park in front of St. Clothilde, a beautiful church on the rue casses in the 7th near the rue du borgogne. It is a lovely neighborhood park that is a delightful oasis in the city.<BR>This was a fun idea . I have rented an apartment in paris for 2 weeks in september and am looking forward to doing my favorite things as well as some new ones found here.
