I did a similar trip from Paris a couple of years ago to Normandy, staying one night in Bayeux at the Churchill Hotel. I had initially wanted to visit Mont St. Michel while in Normandy but opted not to try and squeeze it in with only 2 days. There is so much to see in and around Bayeux and Caen. The invasion beaches, American Cemetary, Point du Hoc, Memorial Museum, Bayeux cathedral and tapestry, and the mulberries in Arromaches can easily fill 2 days. Have a wonderful trip!

dean,

we rented a car at the train station in paris because we spent considerable time there and brugges belgium back to paris.

the suggestion to take a train to caen or bayeau and rent a car is a good one. we stayed at an omnitell in caen for about $100.00 per night in sept of 1999. it is easy to get around. parking was easy. the memorial museum is in caen.

bayeau is lovely. it may be a better location for mont st. michel. caen is bigger and has better services available for your brief stay. the people are great in the normandy area. i am looking forward to going back.

jim

Recommend the Chateau d'Argouges in Bayeux and the town of Bayeux itself. About $75 a night for a double room in November 2001. Very charming, comfortable and quiet. (See Karen Brown book "Inns and Itineraries - France" for lots of good suggestions for this area.) Strongly recommend you see the Peace Museum in Caen on your way from Paris.
