Paris to Munich Fly/Train $ vs. Ease

My wife and I are travelling to Munich from Paris in August and are shocked at how expensive a 1 way flight seems to be. Picking up a car in Munich so 1 way is necesary. Any comments ideas or suggestions greatly appreciated.

I suppose you could throw away the second half of a ticket.

Aug 11 CDG-MUC - - $419.00

Aug 11 CDG-MUC
Aug 19 MUC-CDG - - $186.70

Aug 11 CDG-MUC
Aug 19 DUS-CDG - - $174.90

There may be even more creative ticket purchases possible.
Consider an overnight train with a sleeper car.

I don't know how much cheaper this would be, if purchased in Europe. The overnight train with sleeper accommodations, if purchased from Rail Europe, would be $155 to 301 USD, plus reservation fees, postage and handling.
I spent quite a bit of time trying to find the best deal between Vienna & Paris. It's a 16+hour train ride...
So, as others have posted, a One Way ticket is twice the price of a round trip. Does this make sense?
I went ahead and booked a RT and then Booked a Return for 7 days later. And Voila! trip half the price and we are there in 2 hours! Of course, we will not use the Paris back to Vienna portion
What are they going to do?? Come and get us?? Go for it!

I have taken the Munich-Paris overnight train on several occassions. It's fairly inexpensive even if you reserve a sleeper (it saves you the cost of a hotel room and when you wake up, you're there). Well worth considering.
