PARIS TO ???? IN OCTOBER
I will be spending 4 nights in Paris in October. I would like to go somewhere else.
I was thinking about Switzerland and a ride on the Glacier Express. Or flying to Croatia and driving to Venice. Thoughts or suggestions please. I have 15 days.
Thanks,
Jill

Sure. You could do the Glacier Express.
Take the TGV from Paris to Zurich. Then Davos is about 1.5hrs from Zurich. If you get off at Zermatt then you can take the train to Lausanne from there. And at Lausanne take the TGV back to Paris.

Hi Jill,
The Glacier Express is an 8h trip between Zermatt in the southwest and St. Moritz in the southeast. To do justice to the trip (and to the destinations), you should give yourself two to three days in Zermatt and St. Moritz.
If I were you, I would take the TGV from Paris to Zermatt (7h), then stay in Zermatt for two or three nights. Then take the 8h GE to St. Moritz and stay three nights. Then take the train to Zürich and fly out of there.
You can check the train schedules at the Swiss rail site at
www.sbb.ch
Have fun as you plan!

Just a thought on your proposed drive from Croatia to Venice...if this is a hire car then it will be very expensive to pick up the car in Croatia and leave it in Italy. Most hire companies charge exorbitant fees for doing this sort of thing and unless $$$ is no object, I'd discard the idea.
