paris to giverny

I and 9 of my closest friends are going to be in Paris in May. We would like to see Monet's gardens and wonder since we are a group if there are any local companies that do custom tours?

I did this tour and had the concierge of my hotel booking it for me.. Many tour operators do it. You can choose a big bus, or a van for 8 or 9 people plus the driver-guide.

It's an one hour drive, approximately, from Paris to Giverny, and the garden is just BEAUTIFUL!!!. It's so special, because even crowded with tourists, it remains so peaceful... Amazing!

You will love it. Here are some photos to whet your appetite:
http://www.zing.com/album/?id=4293926215
Giverny also has a lovely website. If you see anything in their gift shop you want while there GET IT! Sadly, you can't order much from the site...unless they've changed it!
Just a small piece of advice. I'm sure it depends on your guide and how much homework you have done before going to Giverny, but be sure you see the pond, Japanese bridges and water lilies. It is across the road from the house and gardens and I've been told some visitors miss it because they don't know where it's located.

For a tour of 9 contact ParisVisions, You can do that when you're in Paris. I know a private driver who does tours in a van but he can only take 6 or 7 with a squeeze. Or you can do it on your own.You have to take a train from Gare St. Lazare to the town of Vernon ($26 round trip), then take a cab ($12) or bus to his house. The train trip takes anywhere from 50 minutes to 1 hr 35 minutes depending on the train. The gardens are unbelieveable and you get to see all those water lilies he painted and his house and famous kitchen. Open April-Oct. Closed on Mondays. Well worth going. Tel:011-33-2-32-51-28-21. Also plan to visit the Impressionist Museum across the road and to the left a bit.For more Paris information e-mail me- [email protected]
