Paris to Bordeaux 4 days

We (Me , my wife, 12y, 9y) will be flying to Paris and stay there 9 days. Our return plane is from Bordeaux which will stay two nights before departure. I am trying to create a 4 day initierary between Paris and Bordeaux. In previous posts Angers and Dordogne are suggested. Any suggestions, Car or Train, what to see (Louire valley or Atlantic cost). Where to stay at night, a base and day trips or different places to stay during driving. (Previously we been other parts of France and loved Aix area and Annecy area). We love scenic towns, good local meals, good wine (not Michelin Star Type restaurants)

Thanks a lot.

Take the train to La Rochelle and use that as a base to see the area: Île de Ré, and the Charente.

Sounds like you need to look at some guidebooks! For that area, I found the Michelin Green Guide particularly helpful, but really, any decent guidebook should help. Buy a few (always a good pre-trip investment, IME) or look at some in your local library. Good luck!

The Chateaux de Hautfort is about 2 hours drive from Bordeaux, and might be a good last stop on your way to the city from the Northeast.
