Paris to Biarritz by Train
I'm having a bit of difficulty trying to get a schedule of trains from Paris to Biarritz round trip. Which site should I click on? What about the TGV from Paris, which train station? How long a trip? Which stops enroute to Biarritz? Plan is for July 2008. Any suggestions?

Thomas,
We've taken the TGV from Montparnasse to Biarritz in June and July. It stops in Bordeaux, Dax, Bayonne on the way down. We take the 9:55, arriving at 3:06.
We book 3 months in advance to get discounted fares.

Thomas,
That train, the 08515, departs in spring/summer at 10:10.
Help, please ira!
Just for my own info,
I did a trial booking (on the French page) for Mon. May 12 and see no prems fares in first class available except for the last train of the evening at 23:11.
In the past when booking 2-3 months out we've always found prems fares for the 10:10 in 1st class. (I always use the French page)
Has sncf reduced the # of prems fares, especially in 1st class, or am I missing something?
This is the 1st time I've tried to book on the "new, improved" site. And I just read through the prem tickets thread and am quite confused!
Thanks!

Hi Maribel, Remember me? The Pamplona kid. Haven't been there for some time, but we may go this summer, but not to run. Also to our fave: SanSebastian. Then a short visit to our friends in Bilbao. I hope I can pull it off: Paris to Biarritz to San Sebastian to Bilbao to Pamplona then somehow back to Paris for a week or so. BTW, the Transcantabrico Train takes a somewhat different route from the one we took years ago. No, we won't be on it. But it was a grand trip. Thomas

Thomas, I DO remember you, the Pamplona kid!
Are you planning to stay a few days in beautiful Biarritz? If so, you can take the PESA bus from Biarritz to San Sebastian.
If you're not planning to overnight in Biarritz, you can stay on the TGV all the way to Hendaye, walk out the station, turn right and transfer to the Euskotren, (runs every 12 min., I think) that will take you into San Sebastian (with about 8 intermediate stops).
From Bilbao to Pamplona you can take a La Union or La Burundesa bus.

I found out recently that the Transcantábrico has a new 7 day golf itinerary with golf outings at the Real Sociedad de Golf in Neguri (Bilbao), Pedreña (Santander) and Castiello (Oviedo).
Are you a golfer?
If you make it to Pamplona this summer, we'll be headquartered, as usual, at the AC Ciudad de Pamplona. Just ask for the couple from the Peña Seattle. Maybe we can meet for a drink.

Maribel, Thanks for remembering me. I'll be sure to look you up. Yes, I am a golfer also. No more running after bulls. The new Transcantabrico sounds great. Lots of people don't know what a neat trip that is. I emailed your message to myself so I'll have it handy. Northern Spain does have some magnificent places to visit. I think I could live there. Happy Valentines Day. Thomas
